pico genesis skin treatment

Pico Genesis FX

Pico Genesis FX is a laser treatment designed to make your skin look younger and healthier. It uses a Micro Lens Array (MLA) to send tiny beams of laser energy deep into your skin. This energy creates small injuries in the lower layers of your skin, which helps to stimulate the production of collagen, the protein that keeps your skin firm and elastic. This treatment also helps break down any unwanted pigmentation, like dark spots or discolouration.

Pico FX Treatments at Clinica Lase

Pico Genesis FX is great for addressing a variety of skin concerns like aging, texture, scarring, sagging, sun damage and overall skin quality. Clinica Lase offers Pico Genesis FX treatments at both our Carlton and Ballarat clinics, and may incorporate chemical peels and LED light therapy to enhance the results of your treatments.

Common Questions about Pico Genesis FX

Pico Genesis FX is a type of laser skin treatment used to improve the appearance of the skin. More specifically, it is a rejuvenating non ablative fractional laser treatment.

It is called "non-ablative" because it does not remove or damage the top layer of skin, unlike some other laser treatments. Instead, it works by creating a controlled wound healing response in the deeper layers of the skin to promote rejuvenation.

The treatment is called "fractional" because the laser beams are delivered in a pattern of tiny dots, rather than as a continuous beam. This helps to increase the depth of the laser going into the skin whilst reducing the risks of side effects and minimise downtime.

Pico Genesis FX works by delivering a 1064nm wavelength into the skin, which creates tiny injuries in the lower layers of the skin called the papillary dermis. This stimulates the skin’s natural healing responses, including increased collagen production for a smoother, more youthful complexion. It also evens out skin tone by breaking down pigmentation that may be causing dark spots or discolouration.

Pico Genesis is a treatment that specifically targets unwanted pigmentation, whereas Pico Genesis FX is a rejuvenating treatment focused on balancing the overall appearance of the skin. We provide both treatments at Clinica Lase.

We recommend Pico Genesis FX for anyone concerned about ageing, uneven texture, scarring, sagging, sun damage, or just overall skin and complexion quality.

It's always best to have a skin consultation with a professional to determine if Pico Genesis FX is the best treatment for your specific concerns.

The PICO FX treatment will begin with you lying on a bed so that we can cleanse and prep your skin for a chemical peel to increase the efficacy of the laser.

For the laser treatment, we will place goggles over your eyes and divide your face into 7 portions, each of which will get 5 laps from the PICO laser.

Pico FX treatment will then be followed with LED light therapy to help bring down inflammation and increase healing capabilities. The laser treatment itself will take only about 15 mins, putting the appointment time at 1hr and 15 minutes in total. After PICO Genesis FX treatment is complete, we will provide aftercare recommendations such as healing serums and sunscreen.

Often clients will experience mild to moderate redness after Pico FX treatment, and may have some blood spots under the skin called “petechiae”. These will resolve over the next 5-7 days.

Some people may also experience a histamine response to the Pico Genesis FX treatment which can cause bumpy, itchy and sometimes pustular skin. This is also normal and usually goes away within 5 days. If you experience this, taking an antihistamine can help reduce the symptoms.

Post treatment, clients may wear a thin layer of mineral makeup to decrease redness. Sun exposure should be avoided for up to 2 weeks. Clients can begin active activities 2 days post. Results will be best 2 weeks after PICO Genesis FX treatment.

It depends on the nature of the concerns. For some, the results of a single Pico FX treatment may be enough, but it is possible that two or more treatments may be needed to help you reach your skin goals. Your clinician will discuss this with you during your consultation.

Pico Genesis FX treatments are low risk, though no medical treatment is totally without risk.

Some possible side effects include redness, swelling, itching, or a histamine reaction that results in small bumps on your skin. These can be alleviated by taking antihistamines and usually resolve within five days.

In rare cases, people may see blistering or scarring, though Clinica Lase works to minimise the possibility of these effects through our pre-treatment consultations. If you are at risk, we will advise you accordingly.

Pico Genesis FX laser treatment is not recommended for people with active acne, sunburn, or tan, pregnant or breastfeeding women, people with certain types of skin conditions, and people who are taking certain medications. This is why your consultation with our experts is so important. We’ll review all the details of the treatment with you to make sure it’s a safe choice for you.
