Mattea is a Dermal Therapist with a focus on skin health and age management. Her view is that healthy skin comes first and everything else follows from there.

She treats the skin as a whole rather than concern by concern. Her go-to explanation is a mattress: treat only the top layer and the support underneath is still weak. Working at different depths is how she builds strength back into the foundation.

Pigmentation, redness, crepey skin, uneven texture, loss of firmness, early signs of ageing. Mattea usually approaches these with a combination of treatments rather than one. Onda, RedTouch and CoolPeel CO2 are the ones she reaches for most, along with customised DEKA Helix, which pairs ablative CO2 at 10,600 nm with a non-ablative 1570 nm wavelength so she can adjust the treatment to the skin in front of her. She also uses Onda for body treatments including tightening, contouring, cellulite and fat reduction.

Technology is only part of it. Mattea puts a lot of weight on homecare and what happens between appointments, and PCA Skin Pro-Max Age Renewal is a favourite of hers for age management.

Her consultations are thorough, and she would rather set a realistic plan than a quick fix. She trains regularly to keep her practice current and evidence based.

One treatment she will never get sick of is treating vessels with Excel V. Watching a vessel coagulate on the spot is oddly satisfying, a bit like popping a pimple, and the novelty has not worn off.

Outside the clinic, Mattea is usually training for her next running event, with her Rottweiler Otis, visiting family in the country, or indulging her love of fashion.
