Volume Restoration

Loss of elasticity and facial volume are inevitable parts of the ageing process. As we lose volume in our faces, the skin begins to droop, which is what creates features such as under eye bags, fine lines and wrinkles and a downturned mouth.

Ageing may be inevitable but it doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy a more youthful and vibrant appearance regardless of your age.

For those who are looking for a non-surgical anti-ageing solution that’s safe and effective, dermal fillers are an excellent alternative to surgeries such as facelifts.

Dermal fillers are used in a minimally invasive procedure in an effort to lift and smooth the skin. This plumpness has an immediate effect on your face that will last for several months.

Fillers contain a substance called hyaluronic acid, which is a natural component of the skin. This means that there is very little chance of fillers causing adverse reactions. This natural substance also stimulates the body’s collagen production processes, which further enhances the treatment’s anti-ageing effects.

Dermal fillers are very versatile and can even be used to enhance the lips and cheeks, shape brows, reshape the nose and fill tear troughs.

Clinica Lase clinics utilise the latest dermal fillers to enhance and improve various areas of the face. Thanks to our convenient locations and reputation for stand out results, we find many clients even travel to us from surrounding areas.

Our safe, tried and tested dermal filler treatments utilise injectables to suit all skin types.

What to Expect

If you will be visiting Clinica Lase for the first time, your clinician will start by discussing your medical and treatment history with you as well as your aesthetic goals so that a treatment plan can be determined.

Once your skin has been prepped, a fine needle will be used to inject the fillers under the skin. Dermal filler treatments take several minutes and only cause minor discomfort. If you are concerned about pain, a topical anaesthetic cream can be used on your skin before your treatment commences.

Patients can expect to see immediate results and will be able to enjoy the effects of their dermal filler treatments for 6 to 12 months. For patients who are also looking to smooth out deep lines and wrinkles, dermal filler treatments can be paired with Botox.

If for any reason you are unhappy with the results of your treatment, the hyaluronic acid can be dissolved using an enzyme, which will reverse the effects of the fillers.

Top-up treatments will be required if you want to maintain your new appearance.

Pre-Treatment

Bleeding is the main concern during your dermal filler session but there are ways to avoid it.

Prior to your dermal filler treatment, it’s important not to consume any blood thinning or anti-inflammatory medications for at least two weeks as this could cause excess bleeding. Supplements such as vitamin E, ginseng and any fish oils should also be avoided. It’s also best not to consume any alcohol the day before your appointment as this can thin the blood too.

It’s also advisable to schedule your treatment a few days before any special occasions or events as you may need to wait a day or two for the swelling and bruising to subside.

If you develop a rash or cold sore prior to your treatment, it will need to be rescheduled.

Recovery

We recommend that patients exercise their facial muscles using exaggerated facial movements about an hour after their treatment to work the filler into the facial muscles. Don’t be concerned if you forget to do this though as it won’t affect the results of your treatment.

Redness, swelling and tenderness are all common after your treatment but a cold compress will alleviate any discomfort that you might be feeling after your treatment. Discomfort after your treatment is unlikely though so if it persists, it’s important to contact Clinica Lase immediately.

Products that contain AHAs, BHAs or retinoids should be avoided for at least 24 hours after your treatment. If you need to apply make-up, mineral products should be used and all sponges and brushes should be thoroughly cleaned to avoid infection.

If you experience a headache after your procedure, you may use paracetamol to alleviate any discomfort.

Patients should also refrain from undergoing any facial treatments and peels for up to 48 hours post-procedure, which includes facial massages.
