Acne Treatment Melbourne

At Clinica Lase, we have various ways to treat acne-prone skin and will often use a number of different treatments to bring you a clearer and brighter complexion. These treatments may include chemical peels, LED light therapy and Laser Genesis.

We take a holistic approach to skin concerns and will refer you to a health specialist such as a Nutritionist or Naturopath when required to complement your in-clinic treatments. You will be asked about your diet and lifestyle habits in your initial skin consultation, to help us get a better understanding of why you may be experiencing this skin condition and so that we can tailor the best plan for your skin.

What Can I expect with a Chemical Peel?

A chemical peel involves exfoliating and removing different layers of the skin to reveal a rejuvenated complexion. Chemical peels are often used as an acne treatment, as it can help to improve acne scarring and uneven skin texture. Normally treatments last for around 20 minutes and there are different intensities of chemical peel that will be recommended at a personal consultation.

Do Chemical Peels Hurt?

Most patients tolerate chemical peels well. There is some tingling of the skin that is reported during the acne treatment, but there is minimal discomfort during the procedure. After a chemical peel, it is normal for the skin to appeal slightly redder than usual. But, this will fade after a couple of days of having treatment. The skin will naturally start to peel afterwards to reveal new and more youthful skin that is free from acne and scarring.

What Can I expect with LED Light Therapy?

LED Light Therapy uses Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) at different wavelength settings for acne treatment. The aim is to stimulate natural collagen production, which will help the skin to heal and improve acne scarring and uneven skin texture. In your consultation, your skin will be assessed to choose the most appropriate LED setting. This treatment only lasts around 20-30 minutes.

Does LED Light Therapy hurt?

LED Light Therapy is an acne treatment that causes no pain or discomfort. What’s more, there is no downtime associated with this procedure, which means that there is no need to take time off work for acne treatment. You can return to your normal activities straight away and it is only recommended that you avoid direct sun exposure for a number of days after LED Light Therapy.

What Can I Expect with Laser Genesis?

Laser Genesis is a non-invasive laser procedure that can be used to treat acne. The laser light is used to heat the upper dermis of the skin, which will stimulate natural collagen production to rejuvenate the skin and diminish acne scarring. During a consultation at Clinica Lase, the number of treatment sessions that are required for your acne will be discussed.

Does Laser Genesis hurt?

Laser Genesis is well tolerated by patients and there is only a slight warming of the skin during the acne treatment. The cooling mechanism on the machine means that most people find this procedure relaxing and not painful or uncomfortable in any way. After treatment there can be some redness to the skin and minor swelling. But, this should not alarm patients and will usually fade within a couple of hours of treatment. You don’t have to take time off work or change your normal routine. But it is important to avoid direct sun exposure for at least 14 days and to not use steam rooms, saunas or chlorinated and salt water pools for a number of days.
