Following your anti-wrinkle injection, there are a number of things you can do to ensure the procedure has been as effective as possible. These include:
Exaggerating facial movements for 1 hour after your treatment to work the injected product into your muscles. Avoid products containing AHAs, BHAs or Retinoids for 48 hours post-procedure. Use mineral makeup (if using any at all) and apply with a well cleaned sponge or brush. Avoid facial treatments, peels, or facial massages for 48 hours post-procedure. Stay upright and avoid strenuous exercise for 3-4 hours post-procedure. Avoid non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication eg. Nurofen, aspirin, ibuprofen for 48 hours, as they may induce bruising
In addition to these, it is also very normal to have some redness, swelling and tenderness post-treatment. Some patients may experience small mosquito bite like bumps at the injection site. They generally only last about an hour, but you may ice the area to assist with this swelling. If you are still experiencing some discomfort more than 48 hours later, be sure to contact the clinic as soon as possible.
Lastly, it is not uncommon for patients to experience a mild headache post-procedure. If this happens, simply take paracetamol when needed.
